1. Draw the line
It's hard to keep teenagers under control, but you have to draw the line. 青少年很難控制，但你還是得設定一個界線。

2. What line of work are you in? 
其實是：你做什麼的?
line這個字有行業種類的意思，line of work 就是 field of work（行業別），當別人問 "What line of work are you in?" 你可以直接回答 "I'm a software engineer."
They are my partners in my line of work. 他們是我業界的夥伴。

3. Drop a line 發個短訊（郵件或email）
line通常只英文句子看來像條線，drop a line用在表非正式書寫或傳個簡短訊息給別人 。
We really like to hear from you. Drop us a line and let us know how you are. 我們真的很了解你的近況，留個訊息給我們，好讓我們知道你過的怎樣。

4. Bottom line （淨利；底線；重點）
Bottom line在財報的意思就是淨利，因為損益表最下面一行就是盈餘數字故有此名，後來也表示最後的底線、不能再讓步的原則。
Will the rise in interest rates affect our bottom line? 利率上升會影響我們的淨利嗎？
My bottom line on this job is 50,000 and not less than it. 我對這分工作薪資設限是50,000，不能少於這個數字。

5. A fine/thin line 一線之隔（而兩者差距極大）
用在比喻兩個事物看似相像但意義卻天差地別的情況。
There is a thin line between guilty and shame.
（心虛跟羞愧差異不大，可是落差很大。）
